Key Dates for the remainder of the 22/23 tax year

Now that most of us have taken our annual holiday, it’s back to work. Here are some key dates that are coming up that you may need to be aware of:
5th October
You must register for Self-Assessment by the 5th of October if you are:
Self-employed
Not self-employed (i.e. have to send a tax return but didn’t send one last year)
Registering a partner or partnership
19th October
If you are paying by cheque, you must pay all tax and Class 1B National Insurance (PAYE Settlement Agreements) by the 19th of October.
22nd October
If you are paying electronically, you must pay all tax and Class 1B National Insurance (PAYE Settlement Agreements) by the 22nd of October.
31st October
All paper-based Self-Assessment Tax Returns must be received by HMRC by the 31st of October.
30th December
Your online Self-Assessment Tax Return can be submitted by the 30th of December if you are eligible and want to pay your Self-Assessment bill through your PAYE tax code.
31 January 2023
All online Self-Assessment Tax Returns must be received by HMRC by the 31st of January 2023 as well as your balancing payment and first payment on account (if applicable).
5th April 2023
This is the last day of the 2022/23 tax year. Your Final Payment Submissions must be made on or before the 5th of April 2023.
